WE HAVE BEEN HERE A YEAR
What a Year…..
We have been open a year on October16th 2016 and we are thrilled to have achieved this milestone. We couldn’t have done this without the support of our customers and are thankful of the support both from the now many regulars at The White Rabbit and new customers we meet every week.
It has on one hand felt like the year has zipped by in a flash, and on the other like we never worked anywhere else. We have had sleepless nights from excitement and from worry just like every new business must experience. Although we can’t decide on the speed of the year passing we do defiantly know that we have enjoyed the last twelve months and don’t plan on going anywhere.
This year we have achieved some great accolades and each has come as a welcome surprise.
We started with a review in the Yorkshire Post http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/restaurant-review-the-white-rabbit-todmorden-1-7587313 written by Amanda Wraggand published on the 28th November 2015 so only in our first month. What a great feeling to attract the attention of a food writer and to get a positive article published. This was followed by a letter in March from The Good Food Guide requesting more information on us and The White Rabbit as we were being considered for inclusion in the 2017 guide. We replied with all they needed to know, and the wait began then to see if we were in. August the 4th we had a letter from Yorkshire Life Magazine inviting us to The Food and Drink Awards as we were in the top three nominated new eateries in Yorkshire. David and I were thrilled that we were in the top three and how great it was for us and also Todmorden to get noticed in the whole of Yorkshire. September the 5th the wait was over and after six months we finally would get to know, The Good Food Guide was published and yes, we were in! With a cooking score of 3 and a lovely write up the 2017 guide is without a doubt something we cherish as a book that has a memory in from our first year forever printed in black and white. In quick succession came the 19th September and to see that we had been visited by Neil Sowerby food critic and writer for Manchester confidential and an article was published with his review of his recent dining experience at The White Rabbit. https://www.manchesterconfidential.co.uk/food-and-drink/british/review-white-rabbit-todmorden We both read the article in silence and didn’t speak until we realised to our joint amazement with the overall score of 17.5 out of 20 and the well balanced review that Neil had written. To round off we attended the Yorkshire Life Food and Drink Awards on Monday 26th September at Rudding Park Hotel Harrogate, we had a beautiful lunch and met many fellow catering industry workers and owners. We were in the category of best newcomer and the result on the day was 2nd place rating us as Highly Commended http://www.yorkshirelife.co.uk/home/2016_yorkshire_life_food_and_drink_awards_the_winners_revealed_1_4712761 Second place out of all the new eateries opened in the last 18 months in Yorkshire was outstanding and again we are thrilled to be achieving that in Todmorden and we hope that it all goes towards helping our town thrive.
We are looking forward to the year ahead and feel ready to push on, raise the bar even higher and improve our restaurant even further.
